Bruce Garrioch has reported that the Blues may be about to make an offer for Eric Staal and I am hearing the same thing. The Blues have been quietly talking to everyone and are also one of the serious darkhorses for Ilya Kovalchuk should he be on the market.

The Blues are a team to watch going into the deadline...

UPDATE From a source..."The teams most likely to deal with the Flyers are Atlanta, Tampa, Carolina, and Los Angeles."

There are rumors abounding that the Flyers are on the brink of pulling the trigger on a major deal. There are teams out there telling me that they have had discussions with the Flyers and the Flyers are "by far the most aggressive team right now."

Some are saying that a deal will likely go down on Friday, especially if the Flyers play another clunker against the Penguins on Thursday.

Since this is the team that is in my hometown I spend the greatest amount of time around them. I talk and communicate with more players on the Flyers than any other team. Watching last night's game I felt bad for them on a few fronts.

#1. Brian Boucher. As many of you know, I have been a Boucher supporter from Phoenix to Columbus to Chicago to San Jose and someone needs to do research on the lack of goal support Boucher has had over the last five years. It is amazing. He kept last night a game through 2 periods.

#2. This is a team that is playing like it is waiting for the other shoe to drop. A trade almost needs to happen by Friday for the sake of stability. The players are as close to expecting a trade as I have seen a group of players be.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CORRECTION.

Earlier today I wrote the following:

"Finally. Don't believe the BS rumors ....Trust me here. You all know I would report it if it were true, but I am reporting that these are not true."

I left out the word NOT in the final sentence. I meant to write that I would NOT report on something like this were it true.

My policy has ALWAYS been, and will continue to be NEVER to report on personal lives of players. I feel that this is the most important truth in my fiber. It is paramount to my mission and job as a reporter to draw the line between a player's personal life and his life on the ice. That is what I feel. I am so sorry for not catching this mistake earlier. I honestly was not even reading the comments with all that has been going on.

please accept my apologies for this mistake.

I am working on some possible scenarios here for the Flyers, but I will only report on them when I get further confirmation. Hopefully in a few hours after the podcast that goes live right now...
