Not for my money it doesn't.
How many great games we have seen these two play over the past years? And wow, lately they have been as great as ever. In the last two weeks the teams have played two of the most entertaining games of the season, and they play again next Saturday to end the season....and then, they will in all likelihood meet again in a playoff series that should be the Conference Final in the East based on how well these teams have played over the last few months.
* Both of these teams have already eclipsed the 100 point total.
* The Penguins and Flyers currently 2 of only 5 NHL teams who have over 100 points.
* Sixteen Teams make the playoffs, and if you looked at the overall NHL standings the Penguins sit in 4th and Flyers in 5th. If we still did the old 1 plays 16 the Penguins would play 13th seed Ottawa, the Flyers would play 12th seed Phoenix. If we stayed within conference for the playoffs, but teams weren't awarded an automatic top three seed for winning their division Pittsburgh would play Ottawa, the Flyers would play Florida...
However of course none of that matters, because right now these two teams are destined to play each other in the opening round , and one of them will have an offseason that is much, much too short...But what a series it will be.
