Canucks Can Move Luongo, But Not For Much...Should They?

Some very interesting developments today that I will be posting on before sleeping this evening...still waiting on a source involving Nash, but talking to a few regarding Luongo and here is where it appears to be..

On Toronto...

There are mixed reviews among Leafs leadership, but they are still the favorites...

On Florida...

Florida is debating this as well, but not as far along as the Leafs...It is surprisingly not a money issue for the Panthers, as ownership is more open to this than anyone initially thought..

The problem is this:

The Canucks want a top 6 player back and prospects... The Leafs and Panthers feel that taking on the contract is enough...and they are not willing to give anything of significance..

So the question is:

Is losing Luongo's salary enough? And it might be, because you must realize when you move money you are actually getting a "player to be signed later" as part of the deal. The Jordan Staal trade was an OK trade for the Pens given the circumstances, but the money they lose off the cap could translate into a player like Parise or Doan...So, until the player is signed, the Jordan Staal trade can't be judged...

By the way, Howson should probably be taking this into consideration more than he is when it comes to Nash.
