It wouldn't be October without a major Sens rumor...

Well, as I have written before, there is no shortage of teams willing to take on Jason Spezza's contract, and rumors are flying around today that the Sens are "listening, not shopping in regards to Jason Spezza."

Personally, I am a Spezza guy. I believe a Jason Spezza with a fresh new start is a Jason Spezza who could very well play for Team Canada at the Olympics three years from now in Russia. When Spezza is on his game, Jason Spezza is that good. The problem has been a lack of consistency and a "whisper-down-the-lane reputation" around Ottawa which is largely unfair.

So who is interested?

On Edmonton...

Well, it has looooong been known that Edmonton wanted Spezza in a big way. I have had sources tell me, "Eventually, I would bet anything that Jason Spezza pulls on an Oilers jersey."
You could be looking at Gagne and Cogliano plus a pick here..

On the Rangers...

I honestly believe Spezza is perhaps best suited for Broadway. The Rangers are the most active currently in the rumor mill as management (notoriously known for a sort of apathy) looks to be pushing Sather more than we have seen in quite some time. The Rangers and Sather had a bit of a falling out over Heatley, but Dubinsky and a big D prospect would be a starting point

On The Kings...

All summer long we talked of Kovalchuk, but those in the know also mentioned Jason Spezza at length. The Kings are in need of something major here, and Spezza may fit the bill better than anyone. Jack Johnson would be a key piece, as well as possible Wayne Simmonds..

On Colorado...

The Avs have been reluctant to spend money and have all sorts of Cap space to make this happen. The question remains "will they spend?" There are a few sources who tell me not a chance, while one says it is "a consideration as of this morning."

On Minnesota...

The Wild have become known for being very conservative as of late, however it is not due to a lack of attempting to get in on some big players. The Wild were a player in the Heatley sweeps, and while I would put them as the longshot here...it is possible...

Updated...On Columbus...I was told right after I posted to look to the Jackets to get involved as well..digging more on this one.
