Will Wild Become Preds North?

Those that watch/listen to the daily buzzcast (BTW, I highly recommend that you do) may have heard Ek and Company throw out an interesting thought concerning the current head coach of the Capitals, Barry Trotz.

It has become apparent that Trotz will not resign with the Caps regardless of whether or not they win the Stanley Cup.

So with that, does that present a possible reunion of Trotz with Fenton and Leipold?

As I have written many times since the dismissal of Chuck Fletcher, Bruce Boudreau's future with the Wild is not a guarantee.

General Managers typically like to hire their own coach to insure that the system and player personnel match the styles and mindset of both GM and coach.

Now I am not saying that BB is going to be let go, but it does present a very interesting discussion.

If Boudreau is the head coach next season how does it play out if/when the Wild go into a slump? Will he be on a short leash just by the mere fact that he is not Fenton's guy?

If that is the case, then better to pull the trigger sooner rather than later and get the team on the same page from day 1.

Interesting thoughts as the Wild off season heats up.
