The Wild head to Buffalo to close out their four game road trip tonight against the Sabres at KeyBank Center. Buffalo is coming off a tough shootout loss in Philly on Tuesday night, that saw them surrender a three goal third period lead. For the Wild the story is much the opposite as they are coming off their most impressive performance of the young season, a 5-0 shutout in Boston.

The Wild took full advantage of the opportunity that was presented them on Tuesday, chasing Bruins rookie Malcolm Subban in the second period. It was a tough situation for the Bruins having to dress not one but two inexperienced net minders. That said the Wild played a solid game start to finish.

They had a strong forecheck all game long, the passes were crisper and they played a lot more physical. It is clear that Bruce Boudreau was not at all happy with the effort on Sunday in Brooklyn, and his players responded with their best effort of the year so far.

Tonight the Wild catch another team with big time injury issues. The Sabres are without their best player Jack Eichel, along with Evander Kane and starting goalie Robin Lehner. Anders Nilsson, who played his first game of the season Tuesday in Philadelphia, where he played very well. Nilsson stopped 38 of the 41 Flyers shots that he faced allowing the Sabres to secure a valuable point on the road.

The Wild need to take advantage of another opportunity tonight to get two points. They need to come out with the same fire and energy they had in Boston on Tuesday to take the Sabres out of the game early. If Nilsson can keep Buffalo close, he is a good goalie with the ability to steal a victory. Good teams don't let that happen, and if the Wild want to take that step then this has to be a win tonight.
