Off With the Mask And On With the Helmet?!?

Just got back the info I teased on Twitter and my comments. I had heard something odd about Dan Ellis practicing at FORWARD for Friday night's game.

I reached out and got in contact with Dan who confirmed the rumor.

"Well we are dealing with so many injuries right now and I'm willing to help the team any way I can. This is the latest way. I've been practicing slap shots with Webs and working on my passing with Sully. I'm sure it'll be limited minutes but the coaches know I won't be able to fill a 4th line role. Who knows, I may even get a couple shots on goal. You know, times are tough right now with the injuries to our forward lines and we are trying to make the playoffs. It's an unusual request but one that I'm excited to take part in."

Well color me shocked. It'll be quite interesting to see just what Ellis will bring if he does indeed throw on the helmet instead of the mask tomorrow night. I don't have many concerns with his passing since he learned from Marty Turco. I just worry about the defensive aspects. That said, desperate times call for desperate measures and I wish Elly the best if he puts down the goalie stick for Friday night.

APRIL FOOLS TO EACH AND ALL WHO READ MY BLOG!

Thanks to Dan for allowing me to "quote" him in this story. His appreciation of this day is noted.
