1) Russia defeated the host Czech Republic, 4-2, at the Four Nations Under-20 Tournament in the Czech Republic on Saturday. Flyers prospects German Rubtsov and Mikhail Vorobyov each earned an assist apiece (although the score sheet does not reflect it, which is all-too-common in the stat keeping at such tournaments). Vorobyov had a particularly strong game for the Russian side. A full-game replay is available.

On Sunday, the round-robin tourney wraps up.

Russia takes on Finland on Sunday. Vorobyov assisted on an Alexander Volkov buzzer-beating goal at the end of the first period, tying the game at 1-1 heading into the first intermission. The Czech Ice Hockey Federation website has a live stream of the game.

2) Flyers goaltending prospect Felix Sandström breezed to a 14-save preseason shutout on Saturday as Brynäs IF Gävle crushed Leksand by a 5-0 count. Bucks County native Ryan Gunderson scored for BIF, as did Jacob Blomqvist, Jonathan Granström, Kevin Clark and Nick Johnson.

3) Today in Flyers History: August 28, 1989. The Flyers acquired the rights to young Czech defenseman Jiri Latal from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a 1991 seventh-round pick. The Flyers later reacquired that pick and used it to take veteran Russian forward Andrei Lomakin.
