They need to rid themselves of at least 4 forwards. They look like in reality what some here used to think the Flyers cap situation looked like.

And all that even after they got out from Datsyuks 7.5 by some miracle.

Isn't franzen an LTIR candidate?

That will go a long way towards helping them. But will still need to lose about 900k more.

Actually, based on what I see, the Wings would be better off adding a little more to their cap situation heading out of camp. I can't see how they could possibly build Franzen and Vitale into the opening day roster and being compliant, so they're going to have to go with option 2, and place them on LTIR on the last day of training camp. So the closer they can build to the amount above the upper limit, to a max of $5,071,211, which is the combined cap hit of Franzen and Vitale, the better they maximize their LTIR cap space. Generalfanager has them with 15 forwards and 6 defenseman. It will be interesting to see what they do.

Based on listening to Detroit sports radio everyday, the feelings surrounding the Wings is, they're disappointed with the turnout of Tatar, Nyquist and some of their youth who are now regulars in the line up. Larkin seems to be the only promising player so far. The thought is also the defense is extremely thin. Mike Green hasn't turned out to be what they had hoped. Now I know your stance on Mark Streit but if I'm GM of the Flyers I'm kicking tires and dangling one of Streit or MacDonald for one of those forwards. Sweetening the pot come from us but I think the Wings and Flyers can help each other to balance things out foe both sides.

Regardless of whether or not a deal is made or not by any team with the Flyers from now to October, I'm excited for what could be. I expect Provorov to make the team but I also once expected Giroux to make the Flyers during a training camp that saw Steve Downie beat him out. What if Sanheim beats out Provorov for whatever reason?

It's an exciting time but I would still like to see tinkering much sooner than later.

If Ken Holland doesn't trade us Nyquist or Tatar for MacDonald/Streit+2nd/3rd, he's straight up tripping on Little Caesars and crack

Nobody said this but if I have to paint a picture Pulkkinen, Sheahan and youth who have failed to crack the line up including former first round Anthony Mantha have been underwhelming within their development. It's not like the Red Wings haven't thrown away first round picks for guys like Kyle Quincey before.

I am afraid it gonna be a lot of hiccups if flyer's do not get last season stellar goal tending.

I don't see Detroit taking on MacDonald with the term left on his deal. They might have interest in Streit, but they're cap situation makes it difficult. Flyers would have to take back a contract that they wouldn't want, to make it work. I don't see a fit between the two teams, but you never know.
