The 2017-18 Minnesota Wild regular season came to an end on a high note in San Jose, Saturday night with a 6-3 win over the Sharks.

With that win the Wild eclipsed the 100 point plateau for the second consecutive season, third in the last four and fourth time in franchise history.

Saturday's win provided several personal milestones for the Wild and staff. Reaching 101 points made it eight consecutive seasons for Bruce Boudreau coached teams to eclipse the century mark in seasons he coached the entire season with the team.

Eric Staal, hit the empty net for his 42nd goal of the season evening the franchise mark set by Marian Gaborik during the 2007-08 season.

Matt Dumba registered an assist on the first of Jason Zucker's two goals giving him a new career high with 36 but more significantly that point gave him 50 for the season makig it the first time in club history that the Wild have two 50 point defensemen as Ryan Suter finished the season with 51 which incidentally ties his club record established in 2015-16.

Jason Zucker added a pair of goals increasing his season total to 33, which is a career high.

Jonas Brodin got the Wild on the board with his 6th goal of the season, which also marked his 100th NHL point.

So all in all a pretty nice finish to the regular season. The Wild wrapped up the final road trip with a 1-1-1 record in California, in games that had no impact on the standings for the team. They showed a lot of heart coming back in Los Angeles after being down 2 goals heading into the third period to knot the game at 4 before losing in overtime.

The first game in Anaheim saw the Wild play very strong for a good majority of the night but in the end the Ducks prevailed on a late tally. And of course Saturday in San Jose versus a Sharks team that controlled their own destiny as far as home ice is concerned in the first round, just needing to get the game to overtime. The Wild came out flying and established a 2-0 lead early. The Sharks got two quick goals and the Wild could very easily have folded with nothing to play for but pride.

They did not fold, as they took it to the Sharks in the second period scoring three goals in just over four minutes midway through the period to put the game away.

So now the playoffs are set and the Wild did their job of working their way into the dance. The slate is wiped clean the series is set and the work ahead turns to the Winnipeg Jets.
