The Islanders will get a much needed boost to their lineup as Josh Bailey returns to face the Boston Bruins. The all-star forward missed the previous four games. His presence was sorely missed as the first line was all but invisible during his absence.
Bailey will replace the mistake that was Alan Quine. Social media has been brutal to Quine, who basically had no right being on the team let alone on the first line. The team was still rewarding him for his Game 5 goal against the Florida Panthers in the 2016 playoffs. Quine gives you effort, but he’s an AHL player. He will totally clear if the team waives him.
Tanner Fritz will replace Dennis Seidenberg in the lineup. Yes, a forward is replacing a defenseman. Seidenberg made a brutal turnover early in Tuesday’s game. Nothing came of it but that was the story of the Devils loss, turnovers. Fritz will center Jason Chimera and Cal Clutterbuck.
Jaroslav Halak will get the start. Halak kept the Devils at four goals Tuesday night. The team in front of him failed him. The team has allowed 30+ shots in 12 straight games.
Tonight’s opponent, the Bruins, fired 38 shots in a 5-1 win against the Isles on January 2. The Bruins have not lost in regulation in the last 13 games.
