Update 6:34: Team ID still unknown

varying sources at this hour as speculation runs rampant...We really don't know the team yet, or who is in the group, or even a definitive timeline....however, I do feel EXTREMELY confident the scenario is happening even if the timelines are slightly skewed.

Updated at 5:53: TEAM MAY BE TAMPA

according to a few sources..at least I may have been right in the statement that they WON'T move the team out of Florida...:)

Updated 5:15PM TEAM IS NOT FLORIDA

From Mike Russo's blog.."I know this doesn’t affect those in Minnesota, but Florida Panthers owner Alan Cohen asked me to put this on my blog regarding the Hockeybuzz.com report that he’s meeting today with a group looking to purchase the Panthers.

“I am in the front row at Saratoga today watching the races and I am not selling the Panthers now or ever.”

So that could be that as far as the Panthers being the team the group is meeting with...I do know they are meeting with an NHL team...as is written below...speculation was the team was Florida

BREAKING NEWS>>>According to two Canadian Sources, A group, led by a former top NHL Executive is meeting today with the current owners of an NHL team in the hopes of purchasing the team. Speculation is that the team appears to be the Florida Panthers and that the group will meet in NY with the NHL "by week's end" to discuss. I was also told by a source that the group WOULD NOT move the team out of Florida.

I am sure we'll be hearing more on this shortly.

From earlier today...

OTHER NEW UPDATES WILL APPEAR AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST

I have been calling and chasing some substantial leads all morning while trying to get a grip on the enormous list of UFAs that still remain. It is daunting to say the least...I have gone through and tweaked the top 35 to include all the teams I currently am hearing connected with the following players.

Considering that arbitration is underway this list is amazing. This gives teams some serious option as the rulings come in...

I will get more specific on some of these and I hope to have some more info regarding the crazy rumours that are swirling following the Emery signing...As you'll notice below some of the quieter teams like Columbus, Phoenix, Dallas, and Washington are starting to come into the rumour mill.
