Fleury and Ryan, Trades You Don't Make Are Best

If we turn the clock back to late February, and in the case of Marc-Andre Fleury even earlier, we heard that Pittsburgh must move Fleury before the trade deadline and Ottawa would pay anyone to take Bobby Ryan's contract.

Let's then look at the two biggest deals of the deadline this year. Kevin Shattenkirk to the Capitals and Martin Hanzal and Ryan White to the Wild. Hmm, how did they turn out? Not so well.

Hockey is a game played on the ice, not on paper. The Stanley Cup is won by the team that battles together and works the hardest for each other.

No winning team has ever been bought. Yes a key piece may have been added, but more times than not, a deadline deal of any kind of magnitude yields very little return.

It is great to see Bobby Ryan and Marc-Andre Fleury having success on the big stage. Both are great talents, but even better people off the ice.

The media loves to jump on the next great, and bury the once was all too soon.

It sure is funny to hear what the talking heads have to say about these two after killing them for most of the season.
