One plan B for Buffalo could be Brendan Shanahan (e3). What a perfect fit that would be.
Darren Dreger speculated on TSN last night that Guerin would be a great fit in Ottawa and are "believed to have interest" and at least two of my sources agree that the possibility exists. Ottawa had interest in Billy at the deadline...He may command around his buddy Keith's 4M per salary...The Blues, Kings, Islanders, Rangers and Devils are also in the hunt. Edmonton is a longshot there...
Speaking of the Oilers....They will be VERY busy according to almost everyone alive. Lowe has been working extremely long hours...Among rumours surrounding the Oilers...
Signing Gomez is Priority #1...there are rumours that some key Oilers front office may be already in the same town as Gomez waiting for noon to arrive.
Murray and Toivonen could be heading there in a trade from Boston
Kubina in a trade from Toronto
And there may also be interest in signing Rafalski
Speaking of Rafalski...Chicago and Detroit are also possibilities should NJ fall through.
On Briere and Drury...a great source confirmed that both went out to dinner together last night in Southern California...They are close and today is a big day for both of them...Of course there have been rampant rumours swirling that Lombardi (the only man working harder than Lowe and possibly the Sabres crew) was pulling 15 hour days and really making a huge pitch to bring both of them to town...Both have places near LA and both wives are close.
Another source told me yesterday that he believed Briere to Philly was 95%.
