Agents and Teams can NOT and are NOT allowed to discuss anything at midnight regarding UFAs. They must wait until Noon Sunday...And that would be Eastern Time (the only time that matters...:)) What is amazing about this is I heard one GM say that it was indeed midnight and some agents said this was a loophole since the contracts all end at midnight. And I talked to a few power agents who didn't know and were asking me to find out...you would think this would be clear...I mean we have all pretended not to talk for this long.....
There is another rumour going around that Kubina and Tucker have been moved to Edmonton. People are saying it is being reported on XM and by Darren Dreger...Having tried to get through to XM, I am confident they are not reporting it since they are in automated re-run mode...and when I asked Dreger about it the highly repected Dreger text'd me and said, "If someone is suggesting I said that ...they would be grossly inaccurate!!!!!"

Ok,I just got back from WAWA (our 7-11, but way cooler)...I got myself a big hoagie, a bag of chips and a gallon of iced tea.
It could be that kind of night.
I am hunkered down in the rarely used south jersey coastal office of Hockeybuzz, in the shadow of Lucy the Elephant, and Mrs. Eklund has taken little boy Eklund and little girl Eklund to the in-laws place for the night. Just me, two computers, a slingbox giving me Canadian TV, and an Inbox that is approaching 36,000 messages since the beginning of June. We will be here straight through noon and beyond tomorrow...I will be hanging in the chat room and taking questions while talking to my sources via text, email, IM, phone, and a courier named Frank.
It will be a fun night, and that is what this whole UFA is about.
FUN. Us having a fun time and hockey players getting wealthier than anyone ever thought was possible for playing a game they would pay to play.
For me this is like Christmas Eve (if I had to do my taxes, take the SATs, prepare for an audit, and write a thousand thank you notes on Christmas Eve) but we do it because this is what we do here...
So let's get to the rumours....
8:31pm. Word on the street is that Brian Rafalski's stock has risen and I have talked to two people today who told me that they fully expect Rafalski to be the second highest UFA D-Man...Rafalski will demand more than Souray on the market. All expectations are that Rafalski will sign a bigger deal than Sheldon Souray.
8:28pm. I just got word from a VERY reliable source that Briere is done with the Sabres. Drury however may not be. There is a rumor floating out there that Lombardi is working like crazy to try and set it up so they both sign in LA....The two of them may really like that idea.
