Run for the hills...

The fire sale begins...

The sky is falling...

All is lost...

How can we survive???

Give me a break... The Nashville Predators traded early negotiating rights for two UFA's to the Philadelphia Flyers yesterday for a first round draft pick. The Predators turned nothing into something. That's it...

Kimmo Timonen, I ain't got nothin' but love for ya... but 6.3 million a year??? Congratulations, you'll like Philly, it's a great town...

Scott Hartnell, you may still have a lot of upside... but 4 mil a year???

I feel like the NHL is moving backward to the bad old days of crazy, stupid spending. I'm also not surprised that the Flyers are leading the way. It's a hallmark of the organization. Not being critical, but locking up almost 11 million a year (around 23% of the cap) on two players... good players, sure... but I don't know if they are truly worth the price being paid.

Kudos to Paul Holmgren, finding a way to get free agents before the July 1 deadline... and kudos to David Poile for getting something for nothing. Knowing that 11 million is too much for these two players, instead of throwing up his hands, he got something for them.

This is a good thing for both teams...
