Alright Katsaros, you asked for it!!!

Top Ten Reasons the Canadiens will win the Cup Before the Leafs

10. Koivu vs. Sundin…All you Leaf loving LuluLemon wearing jokers (that was my attempt at alliteration) would probably take Chunky Soup Muncher over my favorite little leprechaun, but lets face it…Saku bleeds bleu blanc, puis rouge; the colors of glory. He is Montreal’s catalyst; he dictates tempo, and as a leader works harder than anyone. When he comes out for that first shift and levels someone, the whole team is going. They rally around him, and after everything he has done to earn our respect, he’s a more likely candidate to raise the Cup! There's no knocking Sundin, but Koivu is the man. There’s a reason why Lidstrom and Alfie failed in their quests this year…Saku is the promised Euro!

9. Hmmmmm, I think I’ll trade a hot Finnish goaltending prospect (when Finnish goalies are killing it in the NHL) and pick up a goalie who had the worst season of his life, let alone his NHL career, and have him start 70 games, and feed him to the media… Brilliant!

8. Do we have 20 million bucks for four years of Pavel Kubina? Cause that would be a worthwhile investment. I got a great idea to support our amazing, rock-solid goaltending: Lock up 17 million in three defensemen, and pay Bryan McCabe the most. Do we have another 6 mil over three years for Hal Gill? He’s definitely worth it! Whatever, if any of ’em get injured we always have Wade ‘Belashhhh’. Ian White is soooooo good!

7. The Habs throw parties when they win Cups…happens at least once a decade. The Leafs throw parties when their team makes it to the Conference Finals, is considered the favorite, and tanks it like Brittany on an Arby’s and beer funnel binge. ’Nough said!!

6. How many times has a Leaf fan turned to you in stern defense, and uttered: “Relax, we still have the second most Stanley Cups with 13!!” Henri Richard has eleven by the way!! Forty years without a cup…the nerve!!! The Habs tradition alone tips Stanley in our favor. The tradition of the Leafs: Ballard years, Cups in the 40s, and oh yeah, an irreparable riff between the team and the greatest player they ever had: Dave Keon.

5. Higgins…can’t find a player on the Leafs who has as much potential; not as a leader, a player, an offensive threat, not even as a person. Higgins is the real deal, and he is going to leave a mark right on that Maple Leaf insignia each time we play them next year. He will be a champion some day, and it will be for yours truly (that’s Montreal, for you Leaf-dreamers…enjoy “Chillger”, _ucker, and Panic).

4. Montreal has a youth core; the key to success in My New NHL. Plecks, Kots, Ryder, Laps, Latts, Higgs, Komi, the list goes on…Chips, Locke, D’Agostini, Grabs, Younger Kots, Cote, O’Byrne…the list goes on (King Price)! Toronto has: Wellsteen, Stajan, Poggsteen, Antrosteen, Ponikarovsteen, Steen, and ?, and ?, and White, and ?, and ? I won’t even entertain listing Colaiacovo, the guy can barely play a shift without getting run over and heading to the bench for a short cry.

3. Gainey vs. Ferguson…speaks for itself, doesn’t it?

2. Fans!! Montreal’s fans are the greatest, LOUDEST, angriest, most passionate bastards on the planet. Last time we won the Cup people were so beside themselves they almost burned the F’n city down! We sell out the preseason to boisterous crowds. Did you watch the Cup? You know what I heard when I watched a broadcast out of Scotiabank Place? Bob and Harry’s annoying voices…watch a broadcast of a playoff game at the Bell Centre, the only thing you will hear is that crowd!!! If we made it to the Cup the story would be our crowd. I laugh when I hear people say Calgary, or Carolina, or Edmonton has the loudest building. They’ve clearly never been to the Bell Centre! Toronto’s crowd…ha! Katsaros, throw everything you got at me on this one, I’ve been to ACC, it smells (that’s a substitute word for something worse I refuse to say on this forum). Not a thing you could say would convince me otherwise.

1. You know what wins Cups? Goaltending. We are set in our net for years to come, let alone next season. Huet, Halak, and Price all have great opportunities to carry our team forward. The ability for our players to never have to question the man behind them is an absolute luxury in this league. With these men shoring up the position we will be perennial playoff contenders. We are deep in the net, giving us far more bargaining power than we have had in a long time. Montreal is on the way back up, to the top, quick!!!!!! The Leafs on the other hand…
