- David Poile had his pre-draft availability yesterday and updated a few of the contract situations
> Discussions continue with the agents for Jarnkrok and Forsberg.
> Announced the signing of Marek Mazanec (one year, two-way)
> Announced that Carter Hutton was probably moving on to get more playing time
> Nothing on the trade front for Eric Nystrom and clearly indicated a buyout if they can’t get a deal done

- From a draft perspective, Poile spoke of taking the best available and not being worried about a specific position, although he did give an indication that he needed to restock a little with blueline prospects.

- The preliminary development camp roster was released yesterday as well and is available on the Preds website. No real surprises there…

- The NHL buyout window opens on Wednesday, expect Minnesota to buy out Thomas Vanek… Vancouver may be buying out Alex Burrows, Chicago may buy out Bryan Bickell and Philly may be buying out RJ Umberger.

- Anaheim may be hiring Randy Carlyle to replace Bruce Boudreau… who replaced Randy Carlyle… wow.

- So, former Wild head coach Mike Yeo is now the head coach in waiting for the St. Louis Blues? OK…

- Best wishes to Dallas play-by-play man Dave Strader… the team announced that he has been diagnosed with cancer.

- Online bookmaker Bovada has posted the odds for next year’s Stanley Cup… the defeniding cup champs are 8/1 to repeat… Chicago and Washington come in at 10/1. Nashville is at 18/1, tied with Detroit, Minnesota and the New York Rangers. Worst odds? Toronto and Buffalo at 66/1

- Couldn’t the Penguins have waited a day for their parade? Doing it at the same time as Gordie Howe’s funeral just doesn’t feel right…
