Some quick hits for your afternoon before the night's games.
There is a ton of talk going on right now...It's as if a switch was thrown in the last day or so. Suddenly everyone is talking to everyone....Here goes!
* The Maple Leafs aren't done with changes. A source I trust tells me that the coaching change was more of "Phase 1" than the whole deal. The Leafs have been talking to the Jets about Zach Bogosian, but obviously want to see if he is indeed healthy. He is playing tonight and many teams will be watching. The word is Joffrey Lupul/Jake Gardiner would be in such a deal.
* The San Jose Sharks have been poking around regarding James van Riemsdyk. The Leafs like Patrick Marleau. As always remember....this is the time of year where we starting hearing names, rarely complete trades, so I am not reporting a JVR for Marleau trade, just the names involved.
*Keith Yandle talk is VERY hot still and will be until the deal is made, which I am starting to believe will come way before the deadline. The NY Rangers are the latest team I have heard regarding Yandle. It is curious what such a deal would mean for Marc Staal? The Bruins and Kings also are high on Yandle, especially the Kings.
*The Red Wings may be shifting their focus back to Tyler Myers. They like Yandle, but may not be willing to make the deal as quickly as it looks to be happening.
*The Florida Panthers and Predators are leading all other teams when it comes to Vincent Lecavalier.. If a deal gets done I would be surprised...but there is definite talk.
* The Panthers and Islanders are looking hard at Yakupov.
* The Blue Jackets could be very busy. They are among teams interested in Chris Stewart.
* A source tells me the Flyers are trying to move a d-man, but were offered a deal for prospect Sam Morin and said, "not a chance."
* Montreal isn't sitting back...this according to my sources. They are talking to Colorado and would consider moving a D-man for Ryan O'Reilly....The Leafs and Avs have had an "on again/ off again" relating ship regarding O'Reilly..."WAY off again." is how a source described it to me. The Leafs aren't willing to move Reilly for O'Reilly...at least this management isn't
