Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is reporting remarks by Pens GM Ray Shero that goalie Tomas Vokoun will be out for 3 to 6 months with a blood clotting problem.
The loss of Vokoun, who took over from Marc-Andre Fleury in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and got the Pens to the Eastern Conference Final, will undoubtedly lead Shero to look for a backup who would be capable of taking over as the #1 if Fleury falters.
This will perk up the rumors of Ilya Bryzgalov heading to Pittsburgh, but he is one of a number of potential options for Shero.
