It was just a matter of time before it was done. As you know by now, the Sabres signed Cody Hodgson to a 6 year extension worth $25.5 million.
One of the first comments I saw online about the deal was that the Sabres are offering all of this money to a guy who has 77 career points in the NHL. This is true, but I don't think it's a bad deal at all.
I'm a big fan of Hodgson and he's going to be an integral part of this rebuild. He will be a core player and will have a big role in the offense going forward. While the money may be a bit of a risk, it's worth taking. From what we've seen from Hodgson, he is clearly going to be a much better deal than what we saw with Leino. I can't even compare those. Although, I can't say too much with Leino because he did have his injuries, but still.
We can finally stop worrying about #19 signing a contract. It's done.
"I knew I wanted to be here, I knew that the organization wants me here. It was just a matter of getting figured out, so I'm glad it all worked out just in time." -Cody Hodgson (Sabres.com)
Training camp notes:
-Sabres players not sporting any numbers on the jerseys or helmets. I saw a few people on Twitter mention that and not all fans are able to identify many players without the numbers. Wouldn't be a bad idea to have those.
-Marcus Foligno spent some time on the first line today along with Hodgson and Vanek. I thought that was an interesting combination.

Sekera had some not so nice comments about Buffalo today.
Sekera on the change from Buffalo to Raleigh: "I think everything is better than Buffalo."
Not something I imagined him saying. I always liked Sekera, but I'm interested in hearing a little bit more from him about that.
