Speculation is rampant that the Calgary Flames are bringing Brian Burke to town to take a roll as team president or "something along those lines." It does NOT appear that Burke will be assuming the GM role in Calgary.

This is a brilliant and VERY needed move by a Flames team in need of direction and team building and no one is better than Burke when it comes to team building....as seen in both Anaheim and Toronto.

I spoke with Burkie at the recent team USA camp and he was in great spirits and all I can say is the NHL is a better place when Brian Burke is a part of it. Burke's passion for the game, the fans, and winning is contagious. His loyalty and dedication to those he works with and for is second to none.

If this speculation turns out to be true one thing is for certain. The Calgary Flames just took their biggest step yet towards their return to greatness. Of that there is no doubt.
