One could definitely argue that Henrik Lundqvist is the best goalie in NHL.

Look at this way....Were Lundqvist an American or Canadian he would be the starting goalie for either squad in the Olympics..there really isn't much of a question about that..

Of course many are drawing comparisons with the contract signed by Corey Crawford in Chicago today...in regards to what Henrik Lundqvist will eventually sign for...and with good reason.

While the Rangers goalie will almost certainly draw a bigger paycheck, there are many other factors involved here. If the Rangers goalie had the Blackhawks team in front of him he would have signed probably for only a slightly higher number. the right now the Rangers don't score goals like a Hawks net them and the pressure on the goalie in Madison Square Garden is way more intense that is in the United Center.

Henrik Lundqvist wants assurances the Rangers are going to be a better team. No NHL goalie wants to have to win every game 1-0 or 2-1.

So while the Corey Crawford contract will play a factor in negotiations between the Rangers and Henrik Lundqvist, the way the Rangers perform this year will have every bit as much to do with whether or not he returns.
