Wednesday Quick Hits

* One of the more interesting tidbits to come out of the Flyers' season ticket holder meeting on Monday was head coach Peter Laviolette's response to a question about whether the acquisition of Mark Streit would cause the team to make changes to its first power play unit, featuring Kimmo Timonen and Jakub Voracek as the high men in the umbrella setup, along with the trio of Claude Giroux, Wayne Simmonds and Scott Hartnell. Laviolette said that he does NOT currently plan to go into the season with Streit replacing Timonen or Voracek in the setup, because the team ranked near the top of the league in power play efficiency last year. Of course, things have a way of changing over the course of the season.

* Flyers defenseman Nicklas Grossmann is scheduled to play in his first organized game tomorrow after sustaining a season-ending concussion in mid-March of the 2013 campaign. Grossmann will play in an exhibition game in Gnesta, Sweden. Grossmann's original youth hockey club was Gnesta IK.

* Flyers forward Adam Hall turns 33 today. Hall, who recently signed a one-year, $600,000 contract extension, was initially acquired on April 3 after being claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay. As of now, he has the inside track to open the season on the Flyers' fourth line. He will get competition in camp from rookie Scott Laughton, among others.
