How long will a rebuild last in Buffalo?

As I write this it's past midnight on what has become Sunday morning. There's not much going on with the Sabres as they have been relatively quiet lately. I know some have said that there are too many Sabres blogs as of late, and I understand your point. There is no breaking news or trades going on, but this is the most active I've ever been, and I've enjoyed contributing more often.

It may have gotten a bit out of hand with the amount of blogs, but I did put thought into them, and I try to make them more interactive for you. In my previous blog, the debate of having the best offense or best defense turned out to be a tight vote:

I did want to take a few minutes before I get some rest to answer a few questions from the mailbag.

Ed: Let's say Miller sticks around for the season. What percent of the starts do you predict for Miller and Enroth, if both stay healthy?

That's a good question, Ed. I wonder if at some point Hackett would get a couple of starts as well. I still believe that Miller would get a hefty majority of the starts. I don't think Rolston would split them half and half. I'd say 75-80% of starts go to Miller. Let's ask the readers:

Chigger: You like the jerseys? What the....? You don't like the Canadiens because they win the cup too often? It's been 20 years. Sounds like simply a list of favorites to me.

....That's exactly what it was. A list of my favorites.

Blake: Do you think that with the whole "rebuilding" phase that's going, fans might be able to enjoy watching them play with lower expectations? Or will we do what we did last year and start booing after the stupidest things in my opinion?

If they don't play well, I'm sure they will be booed. It will be nice to see how the younger players do, but I don't think fans are going to enjoy what could be a losing season. I don't blame them either.

Ryan Boorum: How long do you see Buffalo's rebuild lasting? And how long will it be with their new core until a long Cup run and a potential Stanley Cup?

It's tough to tell. I do think it will take about three years before the Sabres really have a dangerous team again. The prospects are there, they just have to develop. The Sabres have started, and will continue to build a core. Obviously a Stanley Cup run is part of the plan, but I think we may be 4-5 years away from that. I think it was time for a rebuild, but hopefully, it helps. Just take a look at the Buffalo Bills to see how long it's taking them to make it back to the playoffs. I think the Sabres could make it back in the next couple of years, but it's going to take some waiting...again.

As always, thank you for reading!
