TSN's Bob Mckenzie has reported that the Sabres have placed Nathan Gerbe on buyout waivers.

Everyone loves the heart and work ethic of Gerbe, but he simply has not been getting it done. Darcy Regier did say that there would be no buyouts....

An interesting move by the Sabres. Do they have something in the works?

I knew there was a chance of this happening in the near future, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon. Gerbe's cap hit is at $1.45M and he would have become a restricted free agent at the end of next season.

The Sabres have officially released their preseason schedule and they will play three times at the First Niagara Center. Here is the complete list:

The regular season schedule is still a couple of weeks away from being released. The NHL is targeting a July 17th release date, so we still won't know for a little while.

The NHL regular season will begin on Tuesday, October 1st and there will not be any games in Europe to start the season.

Also, former Sabre Jordan Leopold was re-signed to a two year extension by the Blues.
