4:59 pm: Jack's press conference. I have to say, I do like the way he handles himself under this pressure. But then, since most don't expect the Isles to win anything, is he really under that much pressure?

12:16 pm Fri: Nabokov in and according to Art Staple of Newsday, it looks like Ullstrom and Carkner are in for Hickey and Reasoner. It also seems as if Sidney Crosby will be in the line-up tonight.

Oh.great.

Thurs: "It's going to hurt a little bit." John Tavares told Greg Picker and the other reporters today about what it will take to win a game, Friday's game. Because no one wants to repeat their 5 - 0 loss from Wednesday.

Capuano said they didn't play like the same team that had been putting up points the past few weeks. They didn't. They made the mistake that Jack had warned them about: getting away from their game plan.

Mistakes, a lower battle level, and worst of all -- Nabokov with a ringing in his ears from taking a puck off his mask early in the first. All that took the Isles out of the game along with the Penguins talent.

While the Islanders and Rangers are separated by one point, and they just lost to the Capitals 3 - 1, the Penguins have 22 more points than the Isles. Somewhere along the way that entire 'competitve balance' thing got tossed out the window.

I heard on the radio that the NHL shold make it illegal to have Crosby, Malkin, Iginla and Morrow on one power play. Not sure if Bylsma would do that, but it made me laugh and then made me think.

They were right. It should be.

But game one is over and hopefully they learned from it. Shake off the nerves and get back at it. Considering the Pens did exactly what they wanted to do by keeping John Tavares from getting any shots off, the Isles will have to pay more attention to trying to give him a little room. Be more physical and don't look for those perfect passes. Shoot the puck, and keep their heads up.

The Pens blocked twice as many shots as the Isles did, so what happened? Since when do the Isles not give up their bodies to save a goal?

These are the playoffs, and yes, it's gonna hurt.

In other annoying news, Jay-Z and Ratner put forth their proposal for the Coliseum property to Ed Mangano and Nassau County. While the Barclays' Center looks like a rusty bread basket, the vision for the 'revamped' Coliseum looks like a set out of a Star Trek movie. Although it looks like it has the grimmace of a beached whale.

The proposal of six Islander games being played at this new building became a hot topic. If Nassau wanted to have the Islanders, then they should have done something to keep them.

So, hey, KATE MURRAY... How's that Space Ship thing look to you, huh? Does that fit your 'suburban' model you kept talking about?
