Well it wasn’t one for the ages, but the Vancouver Canucks successfully went into Boringsville, Arizona and won another.
Vancouver would get on the board first in the first when Chris Tanev took a Mason Raymond pass and ripped one past Mike Smith. While neither Hansen nor Schroeder would pick up a point on this goal, both were the reason Tanev had so much room in the high slot because both went to the net and battled hard.
About the only excitement of the second was the beautiful left cross that Smith tagged Daniel with as he did the tumble ‘n turtle. With that kind of athletic ability and a finishing move like that, to go along with his outstanding acting skills, Smith should totally look at moonlighting in the WWE. Ah well, I guess I can’t whine about it too much after the big man in the Swedish Mafia whacked him with the steel chair later in the night.
That lead would hold until the dreaded third period, when Antoine Vermette would tie things up. Nothing you can really do about this one, Vermette was just in the right place, at the right time, on a lucky play. Nonetheless, Vancouver had to get that, “Here we go again feeling”.
But Vancouver would rebound and play fairly well the rest of the way. The Honey Badger and the Baby Badger would put this one away mid-way through the third. Edler shot the puck, Hansen caused all kinds in problems in front and Schroeder popped home his second game winner of the year.
Hansen and Schroeder were the two best players on the Ice tonight and were all around the phoenix net. I really like the chemistry these two are building and hope we see what this pair can do with Ryan Kesler once he gets back.
All in all, it’s a win we will take.
