5:53 pm: Ahhh... the Lubo problem. Yes. That thing that the arbitrator said was totally legal and binding. Well, seems that Mr. Visnovsky doesn't really care that the lockout is ended and is crying he'd like to stay in the KHL. The KHL is also offering him a nice sum of money for him to stay so if the Islanders use their only bargaining chip of tolling his contract, he really could care less.

I never liked this guy to begin with. Stay in Slovakia. But it's a slap in the face to the fans who have been supportive.

12:22 pm: As per Art Staple, who has been busily answer questions and making calls, GM Garth Snow cannot make a decision on Ryan Strome or Griffin Reinhart until the details of recalling players from their juniors in the new CBA are disclosed.

Travis Hamonic, who is nursing a concussion since 12/2, did skate for the first time over the weekend and will make his way back from his home and Michael Grabner has been nursing an ab tear as well.

As stated by Art, Visnovsky played Friday in the KHL, AMac played in CZE. Bailey has to get back from the German league along with Streit and Tavares. Frans Nielsen and Jesse Joensuu have to return from Finland and Okposo is at home in Minnesota. Those within a reasonable distance of Uniondale are: Reasoner, Carkner, Moulson, Boulton and DiPietro. Those whould should be heading back soon are: Matt Martin, Kyle, Boyes and Nabokov.

Art seems to feel that the BPT regulars who will join camp are Niederreiter, Ullstrom, Cizikas, Ness, donovan, Nelson and Poulin -- that's along with Hamonic if he is better.

7am: It's not exactly Christmas morning, but at least I woke up to a trace of snow on the ground and news of an NHL deal that will end this stupid Lockout we've done nothing but speak about since September.

This weekend was the two sides last-ditch effort of salvaging a season. They must have taken it seriously as they not only employed that mediator (who now will be a hero in hockey circles) Scot Beckenbaugh, but also kept negotiating for more than 14 grueling hours.

By 4:40 am (according to NHL.com) the two sides had drafted the basis of an agreement. Work still needs to be done to finish the actual document, but at least it would seem all items have been discussed and compromised on.

I hope.

Because if both sides wake up later today after getting some sleep and say "Wait a minute? Did I agree to that?" I will go postal.

In other news, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers lost a tight game by only 2 - 1 last night. Nino absorbed a big hit while his head was down which made for some tense radio announcing, but he seemed none worse-for-wear as he didn't miss a shift afterward.

Gallant fought with ex-NYI big boy Joel Rechlichz in what the announcers called an 'even contest.' However, knowing Joel, it may have been more of a dance than a fight. Miss that boy.

Well, here we go.
