If it's Friday, It Must be Springfield: BST on the Road

While the NHLers wait for small groups and mediators to find out if they will ever see the ice again, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers are heading to Springfield to face the Falcons tonight at 7 pm.

BST is currently at 17-12-1-2 and only two points behind the Falcons. Certainly the first place Falcons will try to make sure the Tigers don't get any closer. Especially Springfield's RW Cam Atkinson who currently has 35 points with 16 goals and 19 assists in 30 games. The Connecticut native is listed at only 5'8" and is from the 2008 draft class. Cam has 107 shots on net and is third in the league for scoring while Nino Niederreiter has is close enough to nudge him in the butt with 101 shots on net and 31 points and ranks ninth.

The game should be interesting. Unlike the CBA negotiations going on in NYC. More meeting scheduled for this morning and more media members waiting around for statements that are single sentences.

This will be very unpopular with #theplayers, but I am so hoping that if and when this is all over, Donald Fehr ends up in the same media black hole that Bob Goodenow slipped into. Of course, Fehr is there to do the best job for those members of the NHLPA, but the amount of money that has been lost by all is just sickening.

I said this on Twitter a few days ago, and I meant it. This is not just a labor dispute between two parties. There are three losers in this battle and one of them has no representation at all -- US.

Sideboards: Found on Twitter this morning thanks to Mark Masters of TSN that Griffin Rehinhart has been suspended for four games by the IIHF for highsticking a USA player. Seems Griffin is a little upset and disappointed with the suspension and Mark had these quotes from the Islander prospect:

Griffin Reinhart: 'As I was tripping I kind of lost balance & my stick rode up his stick & made accidental contact to the head.

Reinhart: 'It’s really devastating for me'; suspension could take him out of the first 3 games of WJHC next year if he makes Canadian team.

Masters notes this is the harshest suspension ever handed out at these tournaments. Great kid, this is really a shame.
