9/27/12: Hey Art? Where's our annoucement? Okay, maybe the Jewish holiday got in the way of the annoucement. So all you people with those tickets for that first NHL game in Brooklyn can hold onto them another day or so before you enshrine them in glass.

The NY Post has an article stating that the Russian Billionaire owner of the Nets is not looking to purchase the NY Islanders at least until the Nets win a chamionship by -- 2015. Amazing how that coincides with the end of the Islanders lease.

Deal done or jerking our chains?

The Nassau County Comptroller who said the world wouldn't end in Nassau if the Islanders left is now on Twitter. He immediately stated what a huge Islander fan he is. Really? Again... jerking chains in print.

The #LITweetUp for Island Harvest is tonight in Patchogue from 7 - 9 pm with a special alumunium clad guest -- a classic Deloreon.

9/26/12: According to Art Staple of Newsday, sometime today there will be an announcement that the historic FIRST NHL Hockey game to be played at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn is cancelled due to the NHL Lockout. Another casualty of this war between billionaires and millionaires.

Of course, we all saw it coming. All there is to do now is hold onto those tee shirts you bought. They will be a collector's item some day.

Once again, I asked if there was a contingency plan to use both the Devils and Islanders' AHL teams in the tilt instead, but was told at this time there are NO plans to reschedule it as an AHL game.

The reason being, the AHL already has their schedule set and it would probably take a lot of finagaling to pull it off. So... Sorry Brooklyn.

Art also announced that ex-NY Islander and ex-NY Ranger Steve Valiquette has been hired as the new Goalie coach for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

With SoundTiger camp opening on Friday in Syosset, the question begs what happens with NY Islander coachs Jack Capuano and Brent Thompson? Certainly they will be at the camp, but are they working? It will certainly be an interesting dynamic to see the TWO ex Bridgeport coaches working with the two NEW coaches with only HALF the players that should be at camp.

I feel for the CT reporter that has covered the Sound Tigers faithfully. He will now be run over by the MSM who usually covered the Isles. Feel also for Nino who will no doubtedly be cornered and grilled on how he feels about his move to the AHL. Sadly, I will be one of those doing the cornering -- and I will feel shame.

It must be difficult for Travis Hamonic to wrestle with the concept of being back in the AHL while his defense partner sits out the lockout. I half-heartedly asked if any of the players assigned to Bridgeport were refusing to show up for BST camp. If an email could growl at you, this one did. No, those on the two way contracts were showing up with no issues. But it still must weigh on them.

Due to the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur, there will be no NHL CBA negotiations as both sides are observing the holiday. The exception is Bill Daly - again. It is said that talks will resume on Friday, but the discussions will be on lesser issues in the CBA other than the revenue.

That is a smart idea. Perhaps there may be enough concessions in the smaller items to work towards a suitable solution for both sides. Let's hope.
