Predictably, with the reality of an NHL lockout, the roster of the AHL Rockford Ice Hogs is taking on a decidedly NHL flavor. The following is the current camp roster. Those more likely to stick in Rockford (barring an NHL labor settlement) are in bold.

FORWARDS

0 Travis Novak
0 Jake Trask
0 Chris DeSousa
7 Brandon Svendsen
11 Philippe Paradis
12 Kyle Beach
15 Wade Brookbank
16 Marcus Kruger
17 Jimmy Hayes
18 Brandon Bollig
19 Jeremy Morin
21 Ben Smith
22 Brandon Saad
23 Andrew Shaw

24 Byron Froese
26 Rob Flick
27 Brandon Pirri

29 David Gilbert
32 Peter LeBlanc
37 Terry Broadhurst
39 Martin St. Pierre

DEFENSE

0 Brett Lebda
2 Adam Clendening
3 Dylan Olsen
4 Ryan Stanton

5 Ben Youds
6 Joe Lavin
8 Nick Leddy
9 Shawn Lalonde

10 Klas Dahlbeck

GOALIE

0 Mac Carruth
30 Carter Hutton
35 Alec Richards
35 Kent Simpson

Buffalo Grove-native Lebda, with nearly 400 NHL games under his belt and in camp on a PTO basis, could end up as a nice depth defenseman possibility for the Hawks late in the season. Lebda's had his ups and downs in the NHL, but like Chris Campoli and Johnny Oduya, he is the type of defenseman who tends to relatively thrive in the Hawk system.

If you want to watch the Hogs, you can (and pay what seems like a high price) through the AHL website, or hockeystreams.com will carry over 80% of the AHL schedule. Games are broadcast on 23.2 in the Rockford area. And the 1380AM radio feed is available online (Hogs website).

A couple of other notes:

Former Hawk Troy Brouwer was noticeable in an informal practice with current Hawks, wearing a Caps practice jersey, on Friday.

Lest I forget, here's a shameless plug for the lockout-induced new gig for our good buddy, Al Cimaglia. Looking for a new home—or to sell one—in the Chicago suburbs, call Al at ERA Team Feinstein at 630-325-4343. He will handle all your real estate transaction needs, and perhaps share his broad hockey knowledge with you in a mellifluous tone.

More to come,

JJ
