9-11-12: It seems the NHLPA will have a very large contingent of players in New York tomorrow, as many as 300 including our own Michael Grabner. I would imagine that John Tavares and Rick DiPietro could also be in that contingent.

Perhaps the NHLPA will make another counter proposal tomorrow, and perhaps the gap between the two sides will close a little. But there are so many points being argued and perhaps some of them aren't unanimously agreed upon on either side.

Case in point, the five year contract term limit proposal as a contract is written for six years in Boston. Sounds like not everyone is on the same page. But this is what Don Fehr wanted, to split the ranks of the league. He seems to be succeeding.

While I'd love to begin to believe that even with a 9/15/12 lock-out, camp will still open on 9/22, I just don't have it in me yet. Let's see what tomorrow brings. Then we can see if there is a glimmer of hope.

9-10-12: Hockey fans who are still interested in the sport are being bombarded from all sides with rhetoric and battle crys. Both sides of the argument point the finger at the other and we, the fans, point our fingers at all of them.

The players are willing to play under the confines of the old CBA even after September 15th while the owners have been told to book their buildings into October. Of course the players would work under the old agreement while they hammer out a new one. But what urgency would there be if that happened? None. That is why the owners (with an exception of the Dolans) are willing to lock their doors and lose games.

Adding fuel to the fire are player agents who stand to lose money as their clients lose theirs who are trying to fan the flames of fan discontent by throwing barbs towards the league. Bill Daly may have said "We do not intend to abdicate that responsibility in reaction to uninformed ramblings on Twitter.", but there are so many that he could have been saying that about, including media members and agents.

So, while all this drama is still being played out, Andrew MacDonald had a birthday and so did Nino Niederreiter. Nino still can't order a beer. The Bridgeport SoundTigers signed Jack Capuano's nephew and Michael Grabner and AMac played in a charity golf game today that I think -- AMac may have won.

The tournament was the chef Mario Batali's Swing Session at the Liberty National golf course. I wonder if Grabs40 got to meet President Bill Clinton there today.

Tonight Garth Snow and Doug Weight were at a dinner for the Canadian Association of NY honoring Wayne Gretzky at Caprini in NY. Anyone else not know there was an association for Canadian New Yorkers?

Tomorrow is September 11th. Take a moment to remember.
