Winning the Cup in a shortened season

The whole Shane Doan thing is really annoying to me. I wish he would just sign somewhere and be done with it. The NHL, as a whole, is also annoying at the moment. Think about the fans, get a deal done, and get the season started on time.

However, I can't help but keep an eye on the negotiations and be optimistic about the start of the season.

If the season doesn't begin until late November, fans will have to go almost another two full months without hockey. As a fan, I'm angry at the NHL for this happening again, but no matter what, I'll be there when hockey starts up again. I can't help it.

The question I wanted to post on here is this: Would you be satisfied if the Buffalo Sabres won the Stanley Cup in a shortened season? Let me elaborate on this.

It's been over 40 years now and I'm a fan of a team that has never won it all. Of course, I root for the Sabres every year to win the Cup, but I really want to see it happen at least once and I'll be satisfied. That's not to say that I don't want them to win it multiple times, but I at least want to see it happen during my lifetime.

The word "lifetime" sounds like a long time, and hopefully is, and maybe the Sabres will win many Cups during that span, but think about some other teams.

I'm a Red Sox fan. I know that older fans have waited their entire lives to see the team finally win the World Series and break the curse in 2004. Although I was a teenager, I watched it happen, and was glad that I witnessed one of my teams win the championship.

Now, back to the question I asked regarding the Sabres. Let's say that this season was shortened to about 50 games and the Sabres wound up winning the Cup. Would the fact that it is a shortened season take a bit away from winning it all?

The Sabres have been playing well in the latter half of the past few seasons, so maybe a shortened season would be beneficial to them.

I would feel much more satisfied if Buffalo won it all during a full season, rather than a shortened one.
