Comrie Makes the Sens Cup Contenders

I am a big fan of Mike Comrie and here is his chance. The Sens are the perfect team for his style and personality. In Edmonton he was always a rock star. The Comrie family is royalty in Edmonton and playing for the Oilers at his youngest age probably wasn't the best thing for him. And I think he'd admit that. He would need an entourage to protect him at the local establishments. It was a weird scene.

Then came a very public contract situation that saw him missing a ton of time and eventually saw him dealt to Philly in a trade that I have been told was part of three-way deal that fell apart. I don't believe the Flyers ever really thought Comrie was there long term. I don't believe they thought he would ever suit up.

Then came the Coyotes. Phoenix is the polar opposite of Edmonton. Zero fan pressure. Phoenix hockey fans love their hockey, but they also love their golf and sunshine. So do many players that go there. You need to completely motivate from within, because you can fly under the radar in Phoenix. And Comrie did.

Now he is in Ottawa with guys like Heatley who and Spezza. He has the talent to make them better and they know it, and they will push him and he is at the right point in his career to be pushed.

I wouldn't be at all shocked if Comrie becomes known as a missing piece for the Sens. This reminds me of the Goring trade the Islanders made at the deadline just prior to winning 4 Cups. I think the Sens need to be looked at as serious Cup contenders now.

Just a hunch, but sometimes a trade feels right, and this one has felt right since I first heard the rumors.
