Quick blog.

Just heard that Scott Howson has contacted the Hawks this morning. Also the Hockey News is reporting that the Hawks are on Rick Nash's list of teams he would accept a trade to. Connect the dots. This could get interesting. But I am not sure dealing Patrick Kane to take on equal or greater salary fits the Hawks plans right now. We'll see.

My top source has been consistent (and I have heard this from other trustworty sources) on Kane all along: the Hawks will deal him for the right return—setting aside what all the mainstream media types are saying.

Reports out of Ottawa last night confirmed what I blogged here a week ago: the Hawks and Sens are and have been in discussion on Niklas Hjalmarsson. It is becoming more and more apparent however, that Hjalmarsson is being talked about in a number of NHL cities, including possibly New York, Edmonton, Buffalo and Columbus. I would put odds of a Hjalmarsson deal in the next 24-48 hours at 60-40.

More later,

JJ
