In a flurry of action one of the most popular Winnipeg Jets players has signed a 3 year deal to stay with the team. Jim Slater @slaterjim confirmed today that he has signe a 3 year deal with a cap hit of 1.6 million. It's great news for Jets fans as one of the nicest, most popular and well respected players from last year returns.

It was also revealed that the next contract for Tanner Glass is almost finished- 80% done and should be completed soon. What this means is Claude Noel has his third line back- except he doesn't see it that way, he feels they are a fourth line of you are to believe what he said in the now infamous 'stella's breakfast'.

While no one should begrudge Slater his money, he earned it and perhaps more had he hit the UFA market, the question remains about the purpose and role of that line. Will we see a third line again or can the GM build/improve other areas of the team and put the GST line in it's more appropriate spot, at least in the coach's eyes.

The next round of developments with players will give fans an idea if the coach and GM are on the same page.

Speaking of the same page Chevy was asked about contract negotiations with Pavelec and said 'I can't comment on that right now'. Pavelec's agent Alan Walsh has been quiet too and with the
typical 'status quo' communication of Chevy it might be time to question whether the two parties are one the same page, or even reading the same book.

Forget the dour thoughts it's good news for the Jets in the short term and these are positives to build on and that's how fans should look at today's developments.
