Starting tomorrow, the Flyers face two difficult road games leading into the Winter Classic, traveling to Tampa Bay and then Pittsburgh on Thursday. The Rangers, who are in action tonight against the Islanders, play in Washington on Wednesday and Sunrise, FL on Friday.
The Flyers, of course, had the last two days off for Christmas. They return to the rink today for a noon practice at the SkateZone in Voorhees.
Brayden Schenn (concussion) and Sean Couturier (head) both skated on their own on Friday and reported progress. The Flyers will have a better sense today if Danny Briere (left ring finger, bruised hand) can grip a stick sufficiently to practice.

I am looking forward to covering the Winter Classic Alumni Game on Saturday afternoon even more than the main game itself on Monday. Seeing Flyers from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s all skating on the same ice -- including all of the team's inductees in the Hockey Hall of Fame -- is truly a once-in-a-lifetime event. As with an All-Star game, the player introductions at the Alumni Game will be more important than the match itself.
On next Saturday's blog, I will run down the contributions of each of the Flyers' Alumni game participants for the benefit of fans who may never have seen some of the older players and coaches during their active careers.
