Game Night in Smashville as the Toronto Maple Leafs are in town for only the fourth time in franchise history. Toronto got off to a blistering start to their season, and still is tied in points with division leading Buffalo. Their record has come back down to earth a bit over the last five games, going 1-3-1.

The main reason for Toronto’s recent slide… Injuries. Colby Armstrong, Tim Connolly, Mikhail Grabovski, Clarke MacArthur, and James Reimer are currently listed. Media reports indicate that Tim Connolly may dress tonight… The Predators are listing David Legwand and Teemu Laakso as out, however,Laakso is available to be removed from IR today.

Youth will be served tonight as these are two of the youngest teams in the NHL, the only younger team is the Colorado Avalanche. The story of youth is not more obvious than the Leafs young netminder Ben Scrivens. Injuries have kept starter James Reimer out since October 22nd, and the youngster has filled the bill quite nicely sporting a solid GAA and Save Percentage. The Leafs have been firing off of Phil Kessel this season, who is taking the place expected of him when Toronto traded for the speedy forward. Kessel is the league’s leading scorer coming into tonight’s game.

The Predators look to build on Tuesday’s win and continue to improve their home record against a Leafs team that is struggling a bit. Game time is 7pm with coverage on Fox Sports Tennessee and 102.5 the Game

Long talked about and finally reality, W. Brett Wilson is now proud owner of a 5% stake in the Nashville Predators. Wilson is a business partner of David Freeman in other sports ventures and owns a home in Nashville, it’s a great add to the ownership group and further evidence of the growing stability of that group and their even more evident commitment to success.

This is good news for the franchise, added on top of the increased corporate support, and increased ateendance, this team is on the right track.

Last night's podcast is posted. We were at Blackstone Restaurant talking to Howard Berger to help break down the Toronto game, caught up with Paul Hamilton in Buffalo to get the reaction to the Lucic/Miller incident and talked to Edmonton play-by-play man Jack Michaels about the surprising Edmonton Oilers. That was last night's SlapShot Radio, built by RiverBirch Homes.
