Random Notes

- I have to give Phil Williams props for not ignoring my criticism of his report, to the point of sending out the link on his Twitter… now I’d like to know when he’s going to follow up with more accurate, more complete information, especially when it comes to the companies (Centerplate and Aramark) claiming they had no contact when it is obviously wrong. That information changes the entire slant behind the story.

- This Saturday, the Preds will be having a huge tailgate party at Bridgestone Arena. Plenty of prizes, arena tours to preview the upgrades to the Bridge and I’ll be hosting the plaza activities starting at noon including big screen replays of three of the biggest Pred wins in franchise history. Plenty of concessions and fun, also there will be appearances from Gnash, the Ice Girls and the Nashville Roller Girls.

- Also, don’t forget about the Nashville Predators Foundation Dinner and Golf Tournament on September 8th and 9th. The golf tournament is sold out, however there are still a few tickets remaining to Petey’s Preds Party at Bridgestone Arena… call (615) 770-2321 for tickets.

- The silent auction is taking shape for the party… the biggest prize is an eight day road trip for two with the team as they head to the west coast in early November. Four games, travel on the team charter, stay at the team hotel… sounds like a good one…

- The Preds open Rookie Camp on Sept. 10th with a pair of games in Florida on 9/12 and 13.

- The rookie camp roster includes Ryan Ellis and Mattais Ekholm on the blueline, forwards Taylor Beck, Michael Latta, Austin Watson and Team USA World’s standout Craig Smith. Atte Engren and Chet Pickard will be manning the net.

- The Hockey News has finally learned its’ lesson… their prediction for the Preds finish this year? 8th…

- OT: Thoughts and prayers going out to the best coach in the state of Tennessee, UT women’s basketball coach Pat Summit.

- 22 days till training camp opens.
