Random Monday Notes, first off… Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian friends!

- Thanks to everyone who came out for the Plaza Party Saturday night. I had a blast hosting it, and the fans who came were loud and proud! As a matter of fact we have pictures from all of the Opening Night festivities at the SlapShot Radio website.

- The Bridge was off the hook Saturday night, 17,113 denizens of Pred Nation going crazy from the opening video (which was outstanding BTW… great job by the game ops crew) to the final horn.

- The season is off to a crazy start… Ottawa, Anaheim, Pittsburgh are 0-2, Chicago and New Jersey are 0-1-1. Toronto, Carolina, Edmonton, Dallas are 2-0. The only things that make sense is the kind of start Detroit is off to…

- The Predators are thanking the schedule makers that gave them a few days between their Opening Night and second games, as Pekka Rinne is recovering from a lower body injury suffered in Saturday night’s raucous rout of the Ducks.

- I’m seeing a lot of criticism from Duck fans about Jonas Hiller. Wrong-headed if you ask me, the Ducks problems are in two places, discipline and the blueline. The Ducks normally play with an edge, they went over it in both of their regular season games thus far.

- Pred Nation may not like ‘em, but they do things right. Detroit announced the extension of Mike Babcock’s contract for another four years.

- The talk in the media room at the Bridge Saturday night revolved around Atlanta goaltender Ondrej Pavelec’s collapse on Friday night. He was released from the hospital last night, but no one can figure out why he keeled over just two and a half minutes into the Thrashers lid lifter against the Caps. Pavelec has been placed on IR.

- Because it is Canadian Thanksgiving, and Columbus Day here in the states there is plenty of daytime hockey to watch… and for those of us stuck at work, there’s a free preview of NHL Game Center online for today only.

- Interesting quote on nhl.com today regarding Shea Weber. Coach Barry Trotz is quoted that Weber was going to be the captain this year, even if Jason Arnott had remained with Nashville.

- All of the teams that went to Europe are back in North America now. It remains to be seen how that trip affects the six teams that went.

Completely off topic, but yesterday was a fun day to be a Phillies and Eagles fan… the true value of picture-in-picture came through as both games were on at once. It was especially sweet after the Titans beat the Cowboys.
