Solid effort from the Predators in last night’s 2-1 victory over Atlanta, including a very good game from Sergei Kostitsyn. Some observations…

- Kostitsyn showed some nice hands on a redirected Shea Weber shot in the first and is moving the puck well as a whole. If he is indeed buying into the system as Coach Trotz indicated in quotes from last night, it is good news indeed for fans of the fang.

- As Brandon called out in his report on the game, Patric Hornqvist played last night like a man possessed, Including a passionate argument over a questionable hand pass call on a breakaway in the third period. It is nice to see that kind of fire in a preseason game from Hornqvist.

- Shea Weber unleashed a cannonading blast on his goal last night. He has taken on the leadership role very quickly, and this team is firing off him already. A little scrum toward the end of the game followed a hit on Jerred Smithson from Dustin Byfuglien. Good to see the team rush to a teammates defense, led by guess who… yup, the captain.

- Very nice third period from the Predators last night, they showed outstanding puck movement, puck movement with a purpose, instead of the “passing for passing’s sake” that Pred Nation has grown tired of. They were setting up some nice scoring chances last night with their movement and driving the net hard. Not much East/West movement, a very good thing!

- Another solid outing from Pekka Rinne who appears in midseason form already.

- The first benefit of a new flagship is already being felt as fans at the arena could listen to the Tom Callahan and Stu Grimson’s call of the game at the 102.9 position on the radio inside the arena, instead of having to listen on the in-arena repeater position at 89.9, 100,000 watts has its’ advantages. Nice to see Willy Daunic retaining his host duties as well…

The Predators head to Atlanta tomorrow for the back half of this home and home. Game coverage on 102.9 the Buzz is expected.
