Devils vs Rangers always carries extra weight. The Devils' cross river rivals always come to play.
Tonight the Devils try to clinch a playoff spot at the cost of the Rangers who are trying to survive the bubble.

13 consecutive playoff runs - Thank you NJ Devils. Thank you Uncle Lou.

Consistency seems to be, still, the topic for the Devils and a strong game against the rivals can be a good confidence builder as they want to roll into the playoffs on a high note. Ten games left till the "second season".

Things seemd to click last game against Columbus. Good puck movement, new line looks, good power play. Can it continue?

Look for new lines again as Coach wants to try some different things.

According to Tom Gulitti of Fire & Ice Blog here are what the lines could look like:

FIVE ON FIVE
Forwards: Zach Parise-Patrik Elias-Jamie Langenbrunner; Ilya Kovalchuk-Travis Zajac-David Clarkson; Brian Rolston-Dainius Zubrus-Vladimir Zharkov; PLL Leblond-Rob Niedermayer-Rod Pelley; Jay Pandolfo-Dean McAmmond-Andrew Peters.

Defensemen: Bryce Salvador-Andy Greene; Colin White-Mike Mottau; Martin Skoula-Paul Martin; Anssi Salmela-Mark Fraser.

What do you think of Clarkson on the second line? Can he be Darcy Tucker-like and make some things happen and open the ice up for Kovalchuk and Zajac?

It would be nice for the Devils to help send the Rangers to the golf links. It will add to the the storied rivalry but the Rangers, who are coming off a win against the Isanders, are not going to bow down as they continue fighting.

It seems to me that Kovalchuk is looking more comfprtable and adapting to a new style. He is skating well. I still think he needs to use his team more as he is not in Atlanta anymore, he does not have to do it all. He needs to be a game breaker and I think needs to play with Elias.
Lets see how Kovy does in a big rival game.

The Rock will be jamming tonight.

Lets go Devils!

Truly yours,
