Let’s get ready to rumble in the Balsillie Bowl!!

Game Night at the Bridge as two teams that are coming off broken win streaks meet up. The Nashville Predators had their six game win streak broken on Tuesday night by the Dallas Stars, the Phoenix Coyotes had their nine game win streak broken by the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday as well. With heavy jockeying for playoff position going on in the West, tonight is a big game for both teams. Phoenix is battling with the slumping San Jose Sharks for the Pacific Division title and can clinch their first playoff berth in eight years with a win tonight. Nashville is working to hold off Detroit and Calgary and gget out in front of Colorado for one of the remaining playoff spots in the West.

Phoenix holds a 2-0 lead in the season series, including their thrilling 1-0 10 round shootout victory back at the beginning of February. There are no changes in the Preds injury situation, Denis Grebeshkov and Joel Ward are listed as out, Captain Jason Arnott is listed as day-to-day. Caution is warranted here given Arnott’s history of concussions and a desire to have him around for the playoffs. Phoenix lists Kurt Sauer and former Pred Scottie Upshall as out for tonight’s game.

Expect Dave Tippet hockey tonight, tight checking and disciplined. The Predators will have to show a little more patience than they did on Tuesday against Dallas. Puck drop is at 7:08pm, coverage on FS Tennessee and 104.5 the Zone.

We had a great time last night at Dave and Busters Opry Mills for HockeyBuzz Radio… thanks to our guests Bill Clement, Bob Heethuis, and Norman Page. The podcast should be up a little later today.

When the Preds third jerseys were introduced, GM David Poile said he wouldn’t be surprised if they became the primary fairly soon. That appears to be happening next year if the website Icethetics is correct in its reporting. They report that the thirds will become the home jerseys and there will not be a third next year.

Stay tuned…
