*** First, and foremost, I would like to apologize for my lack of blogs. Personal and business reasons have taken priority over mt beloved Devils. Ill get into it later. Sorry. ***

So do you think Devils fans were relieved that Kovy scored? Well, a hat trick like celebration began with a showering of hats on the ice. Even Kovy did not know how to react; "I didn't know what to do about that," ...."It was kind of a welcome goal. It was nice. I always appreciate it when the fans are behind you. Maybe next time, I'll get a hat trick. A real one."

Not since the Mogilny blockbuster trade has the Devils made an impact. Uncle Lou sees something in this team and is going for broke. I expect the Devils to try and plug the defense with a deadline acquisition of a rental defenseman or two to shore up the D with some veteran presence.

As for the game, yes key players stepped up onto the score sheet with Zajac, Elias, Kovalchuk, Parise and Langenbrunner hitting the twine. A 5 goal outburst they hope will carry over and build some confidence going into the Olympic break.

The D still shaky and the PP needs alot of work.

Pandolfo's scratch seems a little fishy in my opinion. Trade talks starting to surface. Hard to see Pando in another jersey.

The addition of Kovalchuk can be huge especially if he and elias gel, this could give the Devils further threat and take away the focus off of Parise who take a beating every game.
This trade will also be determined and evaluated by 1- How far the Devils go in the playoffs and/or 2- If the Devils are able to resign him for 2 or more years. Not sure how Uncle Lous feels about making Kovalchuk the highest paid player in the league. Time will tell but lets focus at the task at hand - Lets gel and add pieces, if necessary.

Getting past the first round of the playoffs is necessary but currently we need to play better and consistent hockey as the likes of the Penguins and Flyers are breathing down the Devils throats and the Capitals are a dynamic high flying team and may be the team to beat right now in the East. The Sabers have quietly built points.

The Devils need a good showing against the Canes prior to the break.

Lets go Devils!

Truly yours,
The Devils Advocate
