Elias' injury sucks but Devils need to get back on track.

This will be an interesting and good test for the Devils. One that Uncle Lou will do a lot of examining and, most importantly, homework. The next few games/weeks will help Lamoriello strategize how he will look at the trade deadline.

Devils fans have started to voice their desire for something to be done via a trade, and secondary scoring is always the topic. But it has been the topic for as long as I am a Devils fan. The talks will gather some steam of the Devils do not get on the winning track soon.

“In Lou We Trust” – but I would love to hear some trade talk.
I wonder what the market would be for an Oduya-type of player. Even a Martin. But the Devils may have a nice pile of youngsters that could be used as trade pieces. The Devils have built quickly a nice strong depth of youth coming in to challenge spots in the near future. A few have played, and stuck, on the team. The likes of Matt Halischuk, Vladimir Zharkov, Mark Fraser could be considered as a trading chip especially if the Devils brass is confident on the likes of Matthew Corrente, Mattias Tedenby, Patrice Cormier and Adam Henrique.

Personally, Im concerned but far from panicking.
Patrik Elias being out of the lineup will hurt. But the possibility of Danius Zubrus, David Clarkson and Paul Martin stepping into the lineup before Elias comes back will easy the loss.
The loss of Elias for a prolonged period of time will hurt the Devils but I am interested to see how the team responds and lines develop.
I just hope Elias is merely shaken up, he has time to relax and no pressure to recover.

The Devils, however, need to get out of this “funk” and the best way would be to get something on the power play. The Devils are 0-19 in the last six games and this area needs to improve. Colin White in front of the net??!! At this stage – whatever works.
Lets spice things up, lets give Corrente another go and Coach Lemaire hinted he could do the job. At this stage – whatever works.

The Devils have been a resilient team doing a great job all season but they seemed to have lost their edge. Now they come home for two games at The Rock versus the panthers and the Habs and that is great timing to come home.
The Devils need to pick the pieces up and move forward, get that focus back. I have full confidence Coach Lemaire will deal with this team accordingly.
Like I said, the team is in a funk. We have been there before, and the whole team stepped up, I think this time will be no different.

Panthers next

Truly yours,
