A Devils of a time Florida first, now the Flyers

Former Devil Scott Clemmensen beat out Marty Brodeur and the Devils as the Panthers came on top last night. Classy move by the NJ crowd as they cheered when his name was announced as the starting goalie. Devils fans have not forgotten what he did last year when Marty was injuted and most in the NHL thought the Devils would tank. Clemmensen had something to prove – and he did.

Now lets move on as the Devils face a tough, and desperate, opponent in the Flyers who have had their share of issues and are looking to get on the right track but have beaten the Devils in each of their two meetings this season.

The Devils do not want to start another streak on the losing side and must come out on a mission at The Rock tonight and be sharper than how they played against the Panthers, perhaps taking them a little too lightly.

The Devils are off to their best start in franchise history (21 wins, 8 losses, 1 OTL) is tied for first in the Atlantic with the Penguins and in a three-way tie for third overall on the NHL in points. Not too bad.

As I mentioned before, much credit has to be given to Coach Lemaire stepping in but also to the youngsters who have contributed as injuries have gone thought the Devils lineup.

Speaking of injuries, Paul Martin still sidelined and the defense moving along. This brings me to a question I have been mulling for a while; Is Paul martin expandable? I have always been a fan of Martin but once he comes back and in the groove watch for rumors to start around his name as teams begin looking past the break towards the trading deadline.

Curious to see if Marty will start again, I don’t see why not but Coach Lemaire declined to confirm. Is LeBlond or Peters should be in against a tough and scrappy Flyers team.
Should be a good one.

How about Slava Fetisov playing a game for CSKA Moscow eleven years after his retirement. He became the oldest player to hit the ice in the KHL at age 51 coming in as an emergency addition. He does intend to play but good for Slava.

Lets go Devils!

Truly yours,
