The calendar has turned to August… the dog days of summer are here and things are a mite quiet in Pred Nation… Some random stuff…
> Nikolai Zherdev’s arbitration award is rumored to be just south of $4 million. Right in the middle of what Zherdev wanted and what the Rangers offered… God only knows what the Rangers will decide, but we should find out soon.
> Good for the Oilers for walking away from the drama that is the Heatley situation. They’re too good of a franchise to look like they’re begging.
> Does anyone else think that it will be fun to watch Heatley reap what he sowed in Ottawa this year? For Sens fans’ sake, I hope they are able to move him.
> Apparently the NHL is also looking in to the Chris Pronger extension that the Flyers executed in July as well as the Hossa deal with Chicago. Talk about locking the barn door after the horse has escaped.
> NHL.com is doing their annual 30 teams in 30 days feature… look for the Predators feature on Monday 8/17.
