The Beast of the East!

First and foremost, I apologize for being away so long. Life got in the way… work, family. We will also be having an addition to the Mussa family!

My partner Sammy Woo is doing a great job keeping it lively and representing our Devils!

I crown the Devils the Beast of the East. This team can do it all!

Last season I had a similar blog with the same title, but…
This year is different.
This year the New Jersey Devils are for real.
This year we are contenders.
Not taking anything away from a good Bruins and Caps teams but I truly believe we are a team to be reckoned with. Can the Devils maintain this pace and bulldoze into the playoffs, is a question of mine.
This Devils team is a Devils team unlike many other damn good ones Devils fans have had the priviledge to see.

I think the fashion the Devils won over the league leading Sharks showed alot, in a bang bang shoot out of two of the best defensive teams. This coming off of a 1-0 win versus the East’s leading Bruins.
I think the Devils are taking it to the next level, this quote by Captain Langenbrunner says it all
"We believed we could, but you still have to go out and do it on the ice and we did a good job of doing that. We got to see the two top teams in the league and we played well against them. Two different ways of winning, but we found a way."

When was the last time, this late in the season, we saw two Devils in the league's top ten leading scorers;
Parise, 5th overall, with 67 points.
Elias, tied with Joe Thornton for 8th overall, with 62 points.

After that there is a gap with Jamie Langenbrunner and Travis Zajac tied for 40th, with 47 points. The Devils have been getting contributions throughout the lineup from different people , different ways, at different times.

To me, what shows this is a "new" New Jersey Devils is the fact that one of our "pillars", Martin Brodeur, has had no influence on the season so far.

We can speculate what Uncle Lou will do come trading deadline.
I have always wanted a sniper. At this point if we get one, great. If not, i wont lose sleep over it. Two words: Parise and Elias.

Gionta and Oduya rumors we will hear. The possibility of Lou dipping into Russia for an addition. After the Fedor Fedorov bad experiment I dont see that happening especially with the team playing as is. I really see Madden and a D man possibly shipped out for a top 4 defensman down the stretch. (I keep thinking Phil Housely traded to thh Devils kind of deadline deal.)

The only disappointment is that good guy Kevin Weekes didnt play more just because he is a good guy. But props to Scott Clemmensen for stepping up his game and being the unsung hero of this New Jersey Devils team, in my opinion.

But one thing is for sure; This scary New Jersey Devils will be adding the best goalie in the history of the game by the trading deadline!

Truly yours,
The Devils Advocate
