Back from Disney, back to reality - I need my Devils fix now!

Wow, a lot has happened after a week in Disney for my family and I (Im sick of Mickey!) Boy, do I need my Devils fix…

I was particularly happy to see the Devils break out of the Rangers funk keeping up with the goal scoring.

As I mentioned in prior blogs this stretch against good teams was a good way for Uncle Lou to guage the team, he has to be pleased with 9 wins in the last 11 games (that is coming off of 4 straight losses prior top this streak). Philly, Habs, Pitt and the rival Rangers are above average teams and the Devils showed they could keep up.

Clemmensen who is making the most of his opportunity has been a pleasant surprise (along with a handful of backup goalies making a case while getting their own starts around the NHL) should get the start tonight against his old team when we play the Leafs tonight. Weekes has been as classy as ever honoring the coach’s decision and understanding his role while being the ultimate team player.
Elias is looking his old self and seems reenergized and Parise making a case for NJ Devils MVP this season while Marty is on the shelf.

The Devils have been a team and playing as a hardworking unit. Rolston still hasn’t found a home since returning from his injury as he practiced on a line with Holik and Clarkson (Im not too crazy about that one)

Andy Greene comes off the IR, not sure weather he could be in the lineup soon. Coach Sutter only mentioned not wanting to rush him back.

Rupp with Madden and Pandolfo? Adding a little “crash” to the “checking”…

I think the Devils are playing solid, the questions I have of right now are… Can they keep up this pace? Will Marty come back with enough time to get in a few starts to get back in shape and shake off any rust or surgery baggage? Do we still need that sniper I have been asking for? Will we resign Clemmensen (starting to remind me of Dunham) before he becomes a free agent? We all know there is not much goalie prospects in our organization.

Food for thought…

I was speaking to someone within the Devils organization yesterday and the question he asked me was “Roger, what do you think of Lou? Many are saying his time is up and question many of his decisions”
My response – Lou has given Devils fans a decade-plus of a great run. Many organizations that have been around much longer than the Devils are yet to experience half of our success. We have been spoiled, somewhat, as Devils fans.
So, in my humble opinion – In Lou We Trust. He can do as he wishes, he can go whenever he feels like. He has earned that privilege.
Plus I don’t think he is done writing in the Devils’ history books just yet as long as Marty is around. I truly believe he will do whatever it takes to try and give Marty another Cup within the next 2 years.

What are your thoughts?

Lets go Devils!!!

Truly yours,
